Flimtoberfest! (Week 3)

Days 1-7 here
Days 8-14 here!

Day 15…

That’s the spirit Apu, adapt those historical costumes to fit you! If you want Dracula to wear roller skates go for it! Does your Darth Vader have pink Hello Kitty accents? Cool! Does your Bart Simpsons have long flowing golden tresses–you bet he does! In this spirit, Apu has replaced Stonewall Jackson’s expected cavalry hat, with a fancy pagri, adapting it to acknowledge his cultural background, and his retro-tinged sense of fashion! Tell Moe to cork it, and get ready to CHARGE!

Day 16: Today happens to be our one-year wedding anniversary, so let’s celebrate with a special costume! Like his father, Homer is comfortable with who he is. Although Marge was pregnant at their wedding, I really doubt Homer could squeeze into her dress.

Enjoy your Sunday, we’re going to celebrate by having some packets of sugar and peanut butter smeared on a playing card.

(Season 4, 1992)

Day 17: If you don’t have a lot of time or money to make a costume, why not hit the dollar store and then create an elaborate backstory for your character? They can be from someplace far away! ..yes, that’ll do.

(Season 4, 1992)

Day 18: If, like in our area, it’s mid-October and still 93 degrees, why not choose a costume you can also wear to the pool? Bonus points for a father-son costume! Doubles as a JAWS homage, so two birds one stone.

Itchy & Scratchy Land
(Season 6, 1994)

Day 19: Maybe you’d like to wear something revealing this Halloween that shows off your rockin’ bod. Because rockin’ bods come in all shapes and sizes, consider one of these sexy numbers modeled by Bart and Barney!

(Season 4, 1992)

Day 20:
While we’re on the subject of body positivity, here’s Homer demonstrating an oldie but a goodie, the Smiling Belly! Fun for pudgies and expectant mothers far and wide. Despite being a classic of tomfoolery, it’s never really been associated with Halloween, and finds use more often in parades and other community festivities. Maybe this year, you can start a trend?

Day 21:

As a giant nerd, I’ve got a personal soft spot for literary costumes. I’m like Mrs. Krabappel, adoringly in awe of Martin’s commitment to his Ernest Hemingway persona for his book report. Not every author has as recognizable a “look” as Hemingway, but try it anyway and have it go over people’s heads! I’ll be over here in my Ken Kesey costume.
