Memorabilia Auction: Sam Simon Charitable Giving Foundation

Sam Simon passed away a few months back, with a lot of remembrances and kind words for the man who did so much to make America laugh for over 25 years. Well, he’s got a legacy that keeps on giving it seems, because on October 22 Sothebys will be auctioning off some of the man’s vast collection of artwork, alongside over 250 pieces of Simpsons memorabilia. Proceeds will support the Sam Simon Charitable Giving Foundation.

Even though you know how we feel about giving,
I think I speak for most of our readers when I say,
we’re all sharing a similar reaction to this news…

One Dolla-olla! Do I hear

Remember, at an auction,
keep your cool.

I’m hoping to get my hands on some nice swag, like…

"T.P. and Jake" by Thomas Hart Benton

That’s right, I called
“T.P. and Jake” by  Thomas Hart Benton
swag

After all, it’s only valued at two and a half million dollars.
Maybe we’ll get a dud crowd, and the bidding will be low…

SOLD!

I got a buck, I got a dollar here,
one dollar there… dolly-alla-olly one dollar-alla
…Sold! For a buck.

If not, I’m sure The Simpsons stuff will be a little too lowbrow for the City Fathers.

dig!dig!dig!

Rescued from Noise Land Arcade
for Mr. Burns game room.

Leaving the coolest stuff for real fans…

it is worth, nothing.

Dad! Can I borrow $750 dollars?!
What for?
To buy a trashcan!

t-he-he-he

Were there ANY serious bids on this?

Simon was a serious collector of art, with eclectic taste that ran from Ed Ruscha, Rodin, even American pin-up art, so there’s something for everyone!

If I'd know there was going to be ...

His beloved family heirloom suitcase,
his beloved plane,
his beloved pornography…

Almost everyone.

*vegan joke*

Oh wait, there’s one.

You can read more one The New York Times, LA Times, Sothebys. If you happen to be going, let us know, we’re always looking for things to give away when we host Simpsons Trivia here in Phoenix.
