Sam Simon passed away a few months back, with a lot of remembrances and kind words for the man who did so much to make America laugh for over 25 years. Well, he’s got a legacy that keeps on giving it seems, because on October 22 Sothebys will be auctioning off some of the man’s vast collection of artwork, alongside over 250 pieces of Simpsons memorabilia. Proceeds will support the Sam Simon Charitable Giving Foundation.
Even though you know how we feel about giving,
I think I speak for most of our readers when I say,
we’re all sharing a similar reaction to this news…
I’m hoping to get my hands on some nice swag, like…
After all, it’s only valued at two and a half million dollars.
Maybe we’ll get a dud crowd, and the bidding will be low…

I got a buck, I got a dollar here,
one dollar there… dolly-alla-olly one dollar-alla
…Sold! For a buck.
If not, I’m sure The Simpsons stuff will be a little too lowbrow for the City Fathers.
Leaving the coolest stuff for real fans…
Simon was a serious collector of art, with eclectic taste that ran from Ed Ruscha, Rodin, even American pin-up art, so there’s something for everyone!
Almost everyone.
