April in review, our “Taxing” Trivia with NPR, and creative coloring

April is almost over, and for those of us in the US, tax day has passed. To celebrate our grudging participation in that annual civic duty FLIM Springfield hosted another night of Simpsons Trivia at Bragg’s Factory Diner.

Here’s some sample questions from the contest (select after question to reveal answers):

  • In which two episodes did Leonard Nimoy appear? (Marge vs. the Monorail, The Springfield Files)
  • What $5 tax increase leads to Apu almost getting deported? (The Bear Tax)
  • What two pro wrestlers participated in the Texas Death match at the Springfield Grapple-arium? (Dr. Hillbilly and the Iron Yuppie)
  • If Lenny pulled a thorn out of the Pope’s butt and was granted one wish, what would it be? (To wear a shirt that has been ironed.)

The food special for the night was IRS Burgers (of course) which came served in economical paper wrappers, and customers could save 50 cents if they deducted their side dish. Despite its branding, the black bean burger was delicious!

served much fast than expected

Now with Ketchup!

Making the night extra cool, Phoenix’s hometown NPR Station KJZZ came down to record our trivia for the Sounds of the City segment on their weekly cultural roundup program The Show <–listen here!

152 Americans

Local NPR station has lots more than 152 listeners, and great jazz.

Our fist place winners for the night were team “Don’t Do What Donny Don’t Does” who took home some of our new slap bracelets, and chose a six-pack of Bragg’s version of Homer Donuts as their prize. We also had a mid-trivia coloring contest, with 2 winning categories, Most Original, and Most Accurate.

Our next show at Bragg’s will be:
Saturday May 23rd, 8pm!

Expect more prizes and surprises; and, coming real soon, an announcement about a second special show in May!

Plus, before the end of May, we expect to have our next film recast! Another classic, this time from the 1970s!
