The most romantic moments in Simpsons history: #5!

Ralph giving a stellar performance as George Washington inspired by his feelings for Lisa

This is one of the funniest and sweetest episodes of all time; it’s perfect. Of course Lisa would put a Valentine in Ralph Wiggum’s empty mailbox, but you can’t blame her for not wanting to pursue a relationship with the kid who eats paste and calls the teacher “mommy.” Ralph’s police chief father blackmails Miss Hoover into giving his son the lead alongside Lisa in Springfield Elementary’s Presidents Day play.  Lisa fears disaster, but Ralph surprises everyone by channeling his love and heartbreak into a show-stopping emotional performance as George Washington. He arouses Patty and Selma, brings Groundskeeper Willie to tears, and inspires Dolph, Jimbo and Kearney to learn more about their founding fathers. Even Lisa is touched, afterwards she and Ralph agree to be just friends, they play on the swings together as the sweet strains of The Monster Mash fill the air.
